Over the last three weeks we have visited the ER at childrens hospital for Rustin every week. On the last trip the finally took a CT scan and it came back bigger than it ever has been, it was HUGE! I haven't seen the scan myself but the Dr said it was going below his hip, which is not were your kidney is supposed to be. This was late Thursday night, and by Tuesday morning we had Rustin doing a Pyelopalasty (the name of the surgery). They had to take out part of his renal pelvis (which is where he had the block), and reattach his ureter to the kidney. Now he has a hole on his side for drainage and also a catheter inside from the point of surgery down to his bladder to keep everything in place.
This journey has been so trying and exhausting, I just kept telling myself "If Rustin has to go through it, I can at least handle it".
Thanks to everyone who already knew and sent go thoughts and prayers, or came by the hospital. We are now home and recovering well. In a week we will take out the tube on his side and be even closer to 100% again.
