I hope you all take a moment and remember that this is October and that means it is breast cancer awareness month. Please get a mammogram or at least make a goal to do a self exam every month (a few days after your period is the best time, people without periods I guess anytime is best). I asked my Dr. once if I could get a mammogram and they said it was not possible until I was at least 30 or if something was detected.
More than anything going on; the War, the election, the economy, etc. I want my family to understand how passionate I am about this subject and how important it should be to you too.
I don't have control of my friends who have died for their country, I can't fix the politicians, and I definitely can't change the stock market, but I have control over this! I have made a commitment to myself that I will not ever forget my cherished Grandma and Great Aunt and I feel we all need to be as proactive as we can be in preventing this disease. It is to honor them and their struggles. Do not hesitate or procrastinate, you have the control-use it-don't be afraid.
Grandma Jan has been on my mind a lot lately and I don't think it's a coincidence that this getting to me now. This time last year Grandma was just starting to get a lot worse and I tried really hard to be consistent for her and show her that I would be there every Friday. NOW WE NEED TO BE THERE FOR GRANDPA. Call him as often as you remember him or Grandma. Do not hesitate or procrastinate, I know we all have our limitations but a 5 minute phone call goes a long way.
I blog about stupid stuff all the time but this is a blog I am having a very hard time writing. My eyes are way too puffy already. I just finished watching a documentary called "section 60" about Arlington Cemetery and all the soldiers from the War buried there. So I think I have been crying off and on for an hour or so now, I wanted to refocus and do something about it. My tiny voice in this world is only helpful to those how really want to listen so I hope I hit a soft spot in all of you and BE PASSIONATE ABOUT SOMETHING!
If anything be a good example for the next generation of ourselves; not only do we have Emma, Maddy, Hannah, Jillian, but baby Maycee will be here any day. We woman need to do it for them--THINK PINK, THINK GRANDPA, THINK LIFE----BE HAPPY & BE GRATEFUL

Heidi... you are an inspiration to me! You have so much love in your heart for all of us. I'm so glad you are my sister. I'll think of you next time I do my boobie check, ok! LOL! No I am not making light of your blog. I just want you to know I know how important it is to be passionate about something. You gotta do it... just talking about it won't help you or anyone else. Just do it!
Thanks, Heidi. I love you.
I'm also glad you're passionate. I'm glad you love us enough to get on the soap box and CARE. You don't have a shortage of it, that's for sure.
