Most of you now know I took my Son to the ER on Friday night.
I first noticed on Friday morning, he woke up with a dry diaper, which is unusual but I shrugged it off and went to work. I picked him up from the babysitter and she didn't make it seem that anything was out of the ordinary. I took Rustin to go swimming and then shopping, he was acting fairly normal, but still no pee. I was making the excuse that I thought he may have gone in the pool, so I still didn't think it was serious. Gave him his nightly bottle around 9pm and he slept for about an hour.
At around 10:30 Rustin started crying and couldn't get comfortable. He kept rolling around in my arms and wouldn't sleep for more than a few minutes at a time. Finally after about an hour of this I called Dustin and he told me I should go to the hospital.
I got to Valley Children's just before midnight and as I was waiting to speak to the receptionist, Rustin threw up all over me. Some nice nurse saw me through the glass room and help me get cleaned up and helped with the initial questions. When I got a room in the ER Rustin threw up again 3 more times and was just inconsolable.
He had a catheter to drain and test his urine and they thought it was a kidney stone. They gave him some Morfin for the pain and he fought that off and on for hours. Later we did a CAT scan and found out it was the same blockage we have been monitoring since before he was born. We finally got admitted to a room at the Hospital (around 8-9 am, my memory by now is blurry) and I got a hour nap around 11am or noon.
All Saturday Rustin was on the drugs for pain and we worried because he still wasn't peeing. Two different times they were about to put in another catheter but peed on his own. He got to eat really food around 7pm and was actually kind of normal, except the IV in his arm and metal cage he was confined to in the hospital. The urologist came in on Sunday morning and said we could go home, but we will have to drain his kidney and clear out this blockage once our real doctor get back into town. She left for Japan on Friday night, great timing!
Thinking back Rustin has had throw up episodes before but I always thought he was getting sick like any other normal person, now I HAVE to second guess everything, his kidney and ureter were now moving to the front of his abdomen because they were getting so big.
I want to thank everyone for their calls and prayers, especially Rob and Cody for helping me Sat morning to move into the real room in the hospital when I was by myself.
The end is still far away so I could use all the good thoughts and prayers anyone wants to give my little boy. He really is so strong, I am so proud of him.

I'm SO sorry I couldn't be there to hold your hand. I know I couldn't have done anything to make things better for Rustin, but there's no price value on someone bringing you a Slurpee or non-hospital food. I'm glad you made it through the weekend. Keep us posted and we'll keep you in our prayers. LOVE you guys!
I LOVE RUSTIN!!!! Have I said that before? We had a car-o-prayer while we were out-of-town last weekend. WE LOVE YOUR WHOLE FAMILY!!!
Heidi - You know what really started all of this. When Rusin woke up at 10:30 - It wasn't his kidneys - he was having a nightmare about the KC Chiefs!!! Sorry I couldn't resist that. He is such a cute guy and we love you all so much. Dad (and Mom too)
